Our Wine Cellar

This will be a record of the wine that we have in our wine cellar and when we add to it and when we drink it and what we thought about it.

We have added a number of Queensland wines recently after visiting the Granite Belt (Stanthorpe area) and 2 winery outlets near Maleny to the north of Brisbane.

  • 7 Mile Vineyard Vin d’Orange Liqueur Wine
  • Albert River Wines Grand Master’s Wine Series Sparkling Shiraz
  • Antech Cremant de Limoux 1996 - excellent drinking in February 2007. 9/10
  • Antech Cremant de Limoux 2000
  • Arrogant Frog 2005 - Ribet Pink - Syrah Rosé - French - Languedoc region - Vin de Pays D'Oc. The label says that it "exudes complex fruit and floral aromas evolving towards soft candied fruit notes." We thought that it was a thin wine with not much body, totally lacking in the middle palate and certainly not fruit-driven. Would not recommend. 04 December 2006. 3/10
  • Avon Brae Eden Valley Shiraz 2002 - superb wine - February 2007. 8.5/10
  • Captain’s Paddock Vineyard Captains Port
  • Chard Farm Finla Mor Pinot Noir 2004, Central Otago (Queenstown), New Zealand - drank with duck at Sea Salt for our Wedding Anniversary. Absolutely one of the best Pinot Noirs that I have ever had (including a Felton Road in Auckland a few years ago). 9.5/10 - might have added .5 for the ambience - the restaurant was brilliant.
  • Chivas Regal 12 year Scotch Whisky - buy this duty-free and drink with soda and ice as our regular spirit.
  • Cleanskin Shiraz (BWS home brand)2005. - drunk as our everyday wine in late 2006; light and not much body, but versatile. 6/10
  • Cleanskin White Shiraz2005 - light, easy-drinking wine similar to a rosé. 7/10
  • Cleanskin Reserve Pinot Noir AH72 (Yarra Valley) 2005 - drunk on 19 November 2006. - light; OK, but not worth spending the $9.99 on more of it. 3/10
  • Clovely Estate Verdelho 2005
  • Crane Hillside Red
  • Crane Liqueur Shiraz 1999 - light; not juicy body.

  • Johnnie Walker Gold label 200mls
  • Johnnie Walker Green Label - not significantly better than Johnny Walker Black Label
  • Kooroomba Vintage Port 2001 - rather a thin-tasting port - would not recommend. Consumed in early December 2006. 5/10
  • McWilliams Inheritance Shiraz Merlot 2004
